Shame on Avitech Bird Supplies. Animal Liberation wants animals to live naturally and not suffer at the hands of man. If people gain this ethical mind-set, it will inevitably hurt their business, and anyone that hurts their business must “logically” be terrorists.
The Animal Liberation Front is classified as a terrorist organization because it’s destroyed property and inconvenienced many people trying to do their jobs. If “terrorist” is too extreme a descriptor, you could certainly call them vandals.
Just because people vandalize in their name doesn’t mean everyone that supports the idea of “Animal Liberation” is a terrorist or supports terrorist behavior. Some of PETA’s tactics are off, but I support the idea of Ethical Treatment of Animals. Sometimes they offer legitimate facts about what they’re fighting for.
The company generalized individuals that support a movement. My ALF friends were jailed during a primate products protest only to have charges dropped. Those they were protesting lied to get them arrested.
Also, people trying to do their jobs. What jobs are you speaking of? Commencing cruel acts on innocent animals?

True, but in that case you’d be better off not lending support to an organization and instead go and do your own thing on your own terms. Most organizations tend to become corrupt over time anyways—you can never be sure if the leaders actually care about their cause or are skimming from the donations you give them, or where the money is being spent, and so on, and so forth. Supporting an idea (may) be all well and good, supporting an organization…not necessarily so.

Well, even if you believe animal testing/research falls into that category and confers no legitimate scientific benefits (that’s a long, long debate I don’t want to get into at the moment), the ALF’s tactics inconvenience people who aren’t even involved in that sort of thing. If you’re a chemist or physicist working on a project that has nothing to do with animals, and somebody firebombs a lab containing animals somewhere in your building, the whole building will get shut down and stall your research, even if you’re not doing anything to “innocent” animals.
“Most organizations tend to become corrupt over time anyways.”
It’s sad but true. That’s why I like to keep my rescue tiny. Too much passion, too much fire, can sometimes be a bad thing if not wielded right.
I can’t eat animals, nevermind on testing them. There is an extensive debate going on, so I won’t hop into that either, but I would not support bombings or violence in the like. Peaceful protest and outreach is my thing, of which many members participate in. That’s who I’m standing behind. Them and of course, critters.
What’s also crumby is that this chick was in support of the idea that wild animals should remain wild. Breeding birds for profit is cruel (why support a trade that takes innocent animals meant for the skies, and stick them in cages only to have their family loose interest in them, and they end up in a rescue.) Instead of discussing her feelings, they were quick to scream terrorist at someone who may have a different view (a view that doesn’t benefit profit from the bird trade industry.)
Thus is my fuss.
I have a small bird who I love dearly and plan to rescue more when I have the time/money/space for them… I adore birds and they make wonderful loving companions for the people who understand them and meet their needs… that being said I fully support cracking down on the bird & exotic animal trade, so so so many people force these animals to suffer and go without the proper space, training, diet, veterinarian care and so on just because they want to have a pet that looks cool. That really fucking sucks and I will never get a bird that isn’t a rescue, I make it my mission to convince as many people that I encounter not to buy baby birds.
